AMBER
ALERT TEST
WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 21, 2007
The OPP, MTO and OAB will be conducting a test of our Amber
Alert System from authorization procedures within the OPP
up to but NOT including an actual broadcast. We
will be contacting your station according to the procedures
approved by the Amber Alert Committee.
Date:
Wednesday February 21, 2007
TEST TIME: Approximately 11 am.
PLEASE
NOTE: You should expect a call to your stations at anytime
between 11 am and 2pm. The
purpose of this test is to test ALL systems involved in
the AMBER ALERT PROGRAM.
THE
TEST WILL NOT BE BROADCAST BY ANY OF THE RADIO AND TELEVISION
STATIONS.
It
is critical that each of our Amber Alert stations make their
staffs and contact points aware that the Alert Test will
be taking place.
Please Review the following:
1. Make sure that your staff(s) are aware that a test will
be taking place.
2. Ensure that your staff(s) are aware of the program, what
it does and how important their role is in saving abducted
children.
3. Ensure that the appropriate response is sent to the OPP
as soon as possible.
**You
will have received the test from the OPP via CNW and / or
through our OAB Amber Alert Exec on the phone. If you have
not yet seen the release when you are called you'll be asked
to go to www.opp.ca "news releases" to view the
test announcement; the Test Announcement includes this same
fax and email address to respond to the OPP. Fax your reply
to 705-329-6077 OR e-mail jus.g.opp.ghqdutyoffice@jus.gov.on.ca**
AS PART OF THE TEST - PLEASE DO THE FOLLOWING:
Make note of when and how you were contacted about the Amber
Alert Test on Wed Feb 21.
Make
a note of how long it would take for you to begin broadcasting
the alert if this had been an actual Amber Alert.
Thank
you for your support for this important community program,
which has successfully recovered 11 children since its inception.
We
have proven that not only does the broadcaster participation
in this program work in all communities, of all sizes, in
all areas but we have been specifically identified and credited
with the rescue of several children. This is something that
all broadcasters – stations – owners – managers – and most
importantly the staff of each station can take pride in
as they work to service their communities.
Thank
you for taking the steps necessary to ensure that this week's
test is successful.
Regards,
The Amber Alert Committee Ontario Association of Broadcasters.
